Air Monitoring Program Overview

Trench 1 ambient air monitoring equipment Air monitoring is one of four principal elements of the Integrated Environmental Monitoring Program at Rocky Flats. Air samples are collected onsite and at the perimeter of the facility. Rocky Flats and CDPHE conduct independent sampling programs and compare and discuss results at regularly scheduled quarterly data exchange meetings, which provide an ongoing forum to meet and discuss monitoring results with Stakeholders.

As the figure below shows, ambient air emmisions from Rocky Flats Closure activities are significantly below Federal standards for radionuclide emissions. Additional background on Rocky Flats air monitoring programs are outlined in the Integrated Monitoring Plan Executive Summary, and the Clean Air Act program overview.
