Historic weapons production activities left behind a legacy of contamination in soil, groundwater, and buildings at Rocky Flats.  These areas must be cleaned up or addressed before site closure can be completed and the Rocky Flats land turned over for future open space use.  The cleanup of Rocky Flats is the single most significant stewardship activity being conducted at the site.
