Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site (RFETS).  Kaiser-Hill is committed to protecting, preserving and enhancing the environment and the health and safety of employees through implementation of the Site Environmental Stewardship program and demonstrated compliance with governing laws, permits and compliance agreements.

Kaiser-Hill and its subcontractors will conduct business with respect and care for the environment.  Our Environmental Stewardship program goes beyond compliance with the law.  It requires:

• Integrating safe and sound environmental practices into our business decisions,

• Continuously improving our practices in light of new understandings and technologies, and

• Setting goals, and measuring and reporting our progress.

Kaiser-Hill pledges to integrate the following elements into our daily activities and decision-making processes as essential management elements:

• Preserve and enhance the environmental quality of the Rocky Flats Site.

• Reduce risks to human health and the environment during the closure of the Site.

• Minimize waste and pollutants, conserve natural resources and energy, and recycle materials in every aspect of our operations, cleanup and closure of the Rocky Flats Site.

• Educate our employees and subcontractors regarding responsible care of the environment and encourage their active participation to improve Kaiser-Hill performance.

• Actively support community initiatives regarding responsible care of the environment.

• Continually assess the environmental impacts and opportunities of our closure operations with a goal of continuous improvment.

• Maintain necessary emergency preparedness plans to address potential environmental hazards at RFETS.

• Measure and report environmental performance through self-evaluations, assessments and audits.

• Assure subcontractors have strong environmental stewardship performance by including environment stewardship as an element of evaluation in procurement and performance.
