It is the policy of Kaiser-Hill Company, L.L.C., that small business concerns, HUBZone small business concerns, small business concerns owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals, and small business concerns owned and controlled by women shall have the maximum practicable opportunity to participate in the performance of goverment subcontracts awarded by Kaiser-Hill. It is Kaiser-Hill's intention to aggressively pursue, wherever possible, subcontracting opportunities with small business concerns, and HUBZone small business in accordance with Public Law 99-661 and 100-180.

Our small business program adheres to the above policy statement in that we provide small business concerns the necessary support to successfully compete for our services and/or commodity requirements. This policy is implemented with complete support of Kaiser-Hill's senior leadership team.

Size of Business

• Small Business Concern – A small business concern is a concern, including its affiliates, which is independently owned and operated, is not dominant is the field of operation is which it competes for contracts, and can further qualify under the criteria concerning number of employees, average annual receipts, or other criteria, as prescribed by the Small Business Administration (SBA). You may refer to the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 12, Part 121, as amended, which contains detailed industry definitions and related procedures.
• Affiliates – Business concerns are affiliates of each other when either directly or indirectly (1) one concern controls or has the power to control the other, or (2) a third party controls or has the power to control both. In determining whether concerns are independently owned and operated and whether or not affiliations exist, consideration is given to all appropriate factors including common ownership, common management, and contractual relationship.
• Disadvantaged Business Concern – A disadvantaged business concern means any business concern (1) which is at least 51 percent unconditionally owned by one or more socially and economically disadvantaged individuals [as defined in the Small Business Act, 15 U.S.C. 637 (a)(5) and (6)]; or, in the case of any publicly owned business, at least 51 percent of the stock is unconditionally owned by one or more socially and economically disadvantaged individuals; and (2) whose management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more such individuals.
• Woman-owned Business – Woman-owned business means a business that is at least 51 percent owned by a woman or women who are U.S. citizens and who also control and operate the business.
• 8(a) Concern – Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act [15 U.S.C. 637(a)] established a program that authorizes the SBA to enter into all types of contracts with other agencies and let subcontracts for performing those contracts to firms eligible for program participation. The SBA’s subcontractors are referred to as 8(a) concerns. By checking this box, your company must be certified by the U.S. SBA as a current participant in the 8(a) Program under authorized NAICS codes.
• Large Business – A business that does not fit the small business categories defined above, and is not a state or local government or a utility or the like.
• Other – This category includes educational institutions, state or local governments, utilities, or other entities that are not among the small business categories as defined above and is not a large “business”.
