On January 24th, 2000, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Kaiser-Hill (K-H) signed a first-of-its-kind closure contract to complete the safe, accelerated cleanup of the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site by a target date of December 15th, 2006, at a target cost of nearly $4 billion. This contract represents the next generation of DOE contract reform and contains key provisions for increased subcontract competition and safety and performance incentives.
Over the remaining life of the project, Kaiser-Hill expects to procure services and commodities such as:
Rocky Flats procurements will feature best-in-class safety and environmental performance criteria, increased subcontractor risk, and substantial competition among subcontractors.
